Spotify using an independant connectivity check

I have noticed when using the spotify clíent, every time I have to log into my internet again, my os's don't pick up connectivity as fast as programs can, because of this, spotify waits for the os and sometimes even breaks if the computer wakes up in a non connected state (very common with WLAN/Laptop configs).

I believe the solution to this is simple (in pseudo terms), the spotify client can just ping it's own servers without waiting for the OS to verify connectivity. If spotify used it's own connectivity check, the app could instantly be more reliable. On any computer that has unstable connectivity.
