Subject: Feature Request: More Comprehensive Language Support and AI-Powered Subtitles
Hi Spotify team,
As someone who truly loves using Spotify, I have a suggestion that could significantly improve the app.
My native language is Turkish, and I absolutely love listening to artists like Eminem. However, I often find myself unable to fully understand the lyrics or other content because I don't know English. This can be a bit upsetting as it prevents me from fully connecting with the music I enjoy. And learning a new language isn't an easy thing to do.
I propose adding a feature to the app that can provide instant translation for song lyrics, artist bios, and even podcast descriptions. This could be an optional feature that users can toggle on and off when they encounter content in a language they don't fully understand.
This is a problem we need to solve. For example, when listening to a song in English, German, French, Spanish, or any other non-native language, there could be subtitles in the user's native language. Similarly, when listening to a podcast, a subtitle option in the user's preferred language would be incredibly helpful.
I understand that adding subtitles to every single piece of content would be a massive undertaking. However, this is where Artificial Intelligence (AI) can step in and offer a brilliant solution. AI can be used to automatically generate accurate translations and subtitles for a vast amount of audio content.
For instance, you could start by automatically adding subtitles in Turkish or other languages to popular and newly released songs, such as Eminem's "Lose Yourself" or Jennifer Lopez's "On The Floor." Beyond popular tracks, the power of AI can also be leveraged to provide automatic subtitle support for less well-known or newly discovered songs. This would make the content library in your app much more accessible.
Such a feature would greatly enrich the listening experience for millions of non-English speaking users like me around the world. When language barriers are removed, we can connect more deeply with the music and artists we love. This feature would also demonstrate how much Spotify values user satisfaction as a global platform.
