The ♡ Heart button AND! a (+) Plus button

In March 2023, the  Heart button will start being replaced with a (+) Plus button for saving things to Your Library. Things that have been saved to Your Library will now show a green ✔ Check icon instead of a green Heart icon.

While the new (+) button is quite useful to know if a song is added to your library, many users loved to see a heart icon ♡ on their favorite songs.

Currently, to add a song to your favorites (♡) you have to click on the (+) button and add it to your favorites! It's very confusing, and it took away from seeing a lovely heart next to your favorite songs. 😞

My idea is for users to have both buttons.

The (+) button to let users know that your songs are added in their libraries.
And the ♡ button so users can directly add their songs to their favorites!

Both buttons would work very well, and would be very intuitive for users.

Thank you very much for your support, I invite you to share the link to the idea so that it can get more recognition and reach Spotify, thank you very much. ♥

the heart was so essential!! the only playlist i really use is the liked songs playlist and find it frustrating I have to more manuvering to get it there, but I do like the ability to add it to another playlist really easily

Unfortunately from the pattern of events in the last year, spotify is completely ignoring this community they have created and won't fix the mess they have created... this is just what I see as a long time subscriber.

This is the first time I leave a comment here, because I just got the update and it's terrible.

I used to use the heart icon to quickly scan through a playlist, when I only want to pick a few favorite songs from the list. Now the icon is gone, and became a totally useless plus icon. Why would I need the icon if I can just drag & drop, or click the three dots icon, or right click the item if I want to add them to a playlist?

At least add an option to let us turn the heart icon back, please.

I wish adding songs to playlists would automatically add it to “liked songs” I’m currently trying to build a playlist of all my songs that I’ve ever liked but it’s just a mess. I like the “add to playlist” button but I also wish the heart was still there for “liked songs”. The entirety of “liked songs” is a mess from duplicates to not auto adding new songs from playlists.

This new system isn't great for auto-generated playlists. When a song is playing from an auto-generated playlist that I like and want to add to my "Liked Songs", I can't tell if I have "Liked" it previously as, by default, it has a green check next to it because it exists in the auto-generated playlist. ☹️

Sigh, I had to go through registering on this forum to leave this feedback.

Been a long time user and premium user + family plan, and this is my feedback:

The plus sign instead of the heart is such a bad move; why not:

- Keep the heart icon

- Long press on heart icon brings up adding to other playlists.

That would be awesome, but this two clicks UX is so frustrating.

I just designed how I believe the heart button could be brought back in a way that merges both the suggestions from the community. My designs brings back the heart button in a way I believe Spotify would be happy with also.

You can check out my design process here which includes all the designs at the end - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTkLkUt1LnI

Dude, you overcomplicated it quite a bit, just as it was, long press heart
= playlist view for song.

Liked imho shouldnt really be a literal playlist, even though it is one,
its favourites.

If you unlike a song but its still in one of your playlists, keep it
there...the heart should control your favs, long press to also add it into
a playlist, thats all.

This is the first time I've dared to leave feedback on a service like this, I've been using Spotify for over 5 years now and likes helped me pick favourites from different albums to make my monthly playlist of favourites, but Spotify decided they needed to kill the likes system.

So you build an app, people get used to a particular feature over the years, and you decide to remove it without asking your users?

You should really reconsider who you hire as UI/UX designers.

If you don't bring back the likes system at least with your innovation, unfortunately I will have to delete spotify and switch to Youtube Premium (by the way you should learn from their new releases tab, I usually go there, see what albums are out and then go back to Spotify).
