Volume normalization on all platforms

I find that the Spotify TV app lacks the audio normalization feature that apps for other devices have, so the listening experience is nowhere near as good as it could be. Hopefully this lack will be filled.

This has been requested many times on Reddit and Google Support. Sad that there's no solution yet because I'm tired adjusting the volume all the time when I play a Spotify playlist.

This has been posted and reposted - both under Connect and Chromecast/Google Home names - for years a half dozen times. It's an obvious missing feature, I'd go as far as call it a bug. Spotify is built around volume normalization for the desktop/mobile apps; it doesn't make any sense that these devices don't support it.

This is extremely easy to support. You have the volume metadata. Just use it. Even if you don't make the setting configurable like it is on desktop, it's got to be like two lines of code to make everyone's life much more enjoyable.

It’s a shame spotify dont really consider this

May I repost my comment from two years ago?

Really, it's not that hard. Simply double your server space (yes, I know this costs money...) and store every song with applied ReplayGain (with a target set to -14 dbFS). Otherwise, simply apply this target to every song and ditch disabling normalization. This costs about a day of writing and testing a shell script.

Honestly, if you love music as you claim you do, you should work towards a better listening experience. Otherwise, watch your competitors taking over.

What are you talking about? At least Google devices run web browsers, which run JavaScript and <audio> elements, which have volume controls. This can obviously be implemented there easily, no storing every song twice.

I don't know how Connect works on other devices, but if the design really doesn't allow retrofitting volume normalization without changing the source data then that's a pretty glaring design flaw, isn't it?

Why the **bleep** is this nor resolved or even considered something that needs resolving by Spotify? An utter disgrace and a great way of running the listening experience

I find it extremely disturbing that this would be considered a "new idea" to Spotify. This should have been a very basic functionality from day one of Spotify Connect.

It would be a great feature if it could add audio normalization to Spotify connect. It’s annoying to adjust the volume on every track of a playlist.

Many people must be waiting for this, please 180 of them press the vote button.
