disable all video content inside Spotify - allow only music

I caught my 15yo watching MrBeast on Spotify. I was not aware that Spotify will allow anything beside music. The idea behind family plan was to allow my kids to explore world of music, discover old and new artists, find their music, something we can talk about. Catching my teen watchign this mindless beast **bleep** is massively disappointing. I thought of Spotify as a sanctuary from ever more toxic social media. I am willing to pay, I am not willing to expose my kids to trash. I am canceling my subscription as the result will explore service alternatives. I hope Spotify at some point rectify this problem and allow parents to control content their kids are exposed to.
Spotify Kids is NOT a solution for teens.

Duh, this is probably the worst reason as to why remove such function, also restricting a 15yo from watching a youtuber is kinda strict and they will find other way anyways but you do you. I agree because there is absolutely no reason for spotify to contain any videos.

Yes please!!!

The amount of x rated content available to underage children is crazy.  Why does Spotify not care? My kids weren’t even looking and were exposed to adult content.

It's outrageous that there are no ways to block channels or prevent Spotify videos in general. Spotify, if going to operate like youtube, needs to put in place safeguards. My children now have access to innappropirate content that I have no way to block.

If I could simply click on a toggle that wouldn't allow spotify to be used for anything but streaming audio I would be happy.

Spotify doesn't need to be a video service or a messaging service. We have those elsewhere - stick to what you are good at at - streaming audio. You are making your service worse for many users, not better.

So disappointed at the garbage and ripped video content serves my 9 year old.  Big tech should be ashamed for not having better parental controls.  I want my child to like and discover music but they will always choose garbage videos over music.

Cmon, I am watching this mess unfolding since mid of last year (one of the ideas is even from me). But I see the same thing repeat, and repeat - the only thing I do not see is Spotify reacting to this.
I simple, we see the point and will provide a solution would be all that is needed.

Now seeing the raise in the Abo, plus the massive reduction of audio books, will make me simply not renewing my abo. I had always the hope they will listen...but now after a year I think it is their strategy to exactly "collect" those teens which are blocked by youtube etc. as new customers.

I don't want videos, and I don't want my child staring at screens repeatedly. I just want them to be able to access the songs they like.

Spotify will never do this, they are all in on podcasts. Sickening money grubbing people.

pipeguy6225

I know that spotify is all in on podcasts but ignoring all the ripped video content that is not really a podcast, there should also be parental controls on podcasts because so many of them (even audio only) are not appropriate for kids.  Think about true crime and manosphere stuff.  A parent should be able to block access to videos and podcasts full stop just like they should be able to block "explicit" music.  **bleep**ing tech comapnies dont **bleep** because this is basic thinking.

Even when you turn off canva now there's little videos at the top of the playlist or videos when you scroll down on the songs.

Video content is waaaay to overstimulating for me, there needs to be an option to turn it off fully!

Not very neurodiversity-friendly platform anymore!
