Here's a quote from a fictional tyrant:

Basically if you want a feature to be paid and paid happily, never release it free in the first place. (also, Youtube, take good notes of this) 

So in my mind, yeh done **bleep**ed up. You released it free. It's free now in everybody's mind. The fact that people know and knew it was free makes the paywall feel like highway robbery, even if you're only charging a whole in-n-out meal for two for it every month. Or one and a half hours of federal minimum wage. Spotify, own up to your mistake and release it back.
