Best Albums of 2017

Hello guys!

A quarter of the way through 2017 already (I know!) - and already 2017 has some outstanding albums under its belt. I'd love to hear what your picks are!

Here's a template for sharing!

  • Album name
  • Artist name
  • Release date (optional)
  • Some words for the release (optional)
  • Album link
  • Your pick for the best song

Album name: Locations: USA

Artist: The Jazz Jousters

Release date: 23 February 2017

This is the 5th session of The Jazz Jousters Locations series.

In this session, they decided to pick up music from jazz musicians from USA and to make instrumentals in their own style. The unique thing in the album is that they used jazz sounds from the 60's. The main focus is on the piano sounds, blended with chillhop like sounds. The result is awesome!

Album name: I See You

Artist: The xx

Release date: 13 January 2017

I See You, the third album by the xx, attempts to incorporate everyone’s talents into a new version of their sound, one true to their roots but richer and more varied.

Album name: Migration

Artist: Bonobo

Release date: 13 January 2017

Migration is easily the most listenable record of Bonobo’s fifteen-plus year career. It’s a record with equal appeal for electronic music fans and general listeners, something you could put on anywhere. Essentially, it recasts downtempo as a genre with more potential than party music on the Bosphorus.

Album name: Mono No Aware (PAN 77)

Artist: Various Artists

Release date: 17 March 2017

“Mono no aware”, ‘the pathos of things’, also translates as “an empathy toward things", or "a sensitivity to ephemera”. A term for the awareness of impermanence, or the transience of things. A meditation on mortality and life's transience, ephemerality heightens the appreciation of beauty and sensitivity to their passing. In investigating the passing of time, the boundaries between memory and hallucination become blurred; between fiction and reality. The movement of time transforms into an eternal present.

@rossi1911 yes! that's the one ^_^

Best song: Belong (feat. Kimbra)Screenshot_20170802-205125.png

Album Name: TLC

Artist Name: TLC

Release Date: Jun 30th, 2017

Fifteen years after the release of their fourth album, TLC rleased their fifth and final album which I believe to be some of their best work. Nobody does harmonizing better in my opinion and this album was quintessential TLC and 90s hip hop in general.

Favorite song has to be "Way Back" it really captures all the nostalgia of the album. They really do, as the lyrics say, take the audience down memory lane.
