Do you need to have a label to put music on Spotify?

I have heard some artists that do not seem to signed with a label and their songs are like they recorded themselves singing and playing some guitar or something. Can people do that?

A label is not a must for any artist, in fact there are plenty of self-releasing musicians and producers around. To get their music on streaming services, distributors like Distrokid or Amuse are used. Those organizations also help those artists with collecting royalties from their releases and offer other support an artist might need.

@britneyLover56 - I suppose they haven't done the verification process through Spotify for Artists yet.
