Hi Marcoford, yes the Mrs. does need an account as well.

To create a separate Spotify account for your wife, please follow these steps:

  1. Open a web browser and go to www.spotify.com/signup
  2. Enter your wife's information (e.g., email address, password, display name, date of birth).
  3. Choose the subscription plan that you want to sign up for (e.g., free, Premium).
  4. Enter your payment information (if applicable).
  5. Click the "Sign Up" button.

Once your wife has created her own account, she can join the Spotify Duo plan that you already have. To do this, you can invite her to join the plan from your account dashboard:

  1. Log in to your account at www.spotify.com/account
  2. Click "Premium for Family" in the left-hand menu.
  3. Scroll down to "Invite members" and click "Invite."
  4. Enter your wife's email address and click "Send Invitation."

Your wife will receive an email invitation to join the plan. She will need to accept the invitation and enter her own payment information (if applicable) to join the plan.

Once your wife has joined the Duo plan, she should be able to listen to music at the same time as you without any issues.

Please reach out if you have any questions,

Hello,

I am so frustrated I can't speak to someone about this!  Anyhow, I have an account and was trying to moving across to premium duo.  I sent the link to my husband and he clicked on it and went in with new details (he doesn't have an account) but his email and password appeared to be accepted and he got a welcome to premium duo message.  However, we can;t play different music only the same and each of us can change what the other one is playing.  Basically only one song at a time instead of what premium duo is promising.  Please can you help?

It sounds like you and hubby are accidently logged into the same account. It should not share playback controls and or interrupt listening if y'all are on separate accounts 🙂

Don't keep me chasing my tail, let me know if this works!
