Half of the weekly playlists are filled with AI generated content

Half of the weekly playlists are filled with AI generated content

I swear, this thing is killing Spotify.
I keep getting songs of the same "Artists" (*people writing on a prompt on a website) despite I downvoted their "songs" every single time I got one in my generated playlist.

Release radar and Discovery weekly are important features for me, it's basically my only way to discover new music... I don't want AI cr*p in them.
Why I don't have any option to filter fake music?!

I agree. It seems there is only a small number of songs in the genre that I like. And only one song by many of these artists. I’m really tired of Spotify and am trying out you tunic music and may switch.
the si generated music is dull and not very intelligent!

My Question or Issue

The last months I notice my Discover Weekly playlist gets more and more filled with AI generated music. They are recognizable by:

- Obviously AI generated cover art

- Weird artist names, especially considering the genre (in my case often metal)

- Album released in 2024
- No bio or other info, artist cannot be found on search engines, socials, etc.

- No label - often released by DistroKid (label reads: 123456 DK records or another number)

It has gotten really bad lately. This week's Discover Weekly has four AI gen songs in the first 5 entries. It makes me very sad that this garbage penetrates in the recommended playlists of users. I have even encountered an AI generated cover track of an existing artist. Disgusting.

I cannot flag tracks as being AI generated (would be a good feature) but how can i keep this out of my suggested tracks?

A few examples from this weeks playlist:

https://open.spotify.com/track/483HgnneW3ODYIov72SCTR?si=2cf0791850ab4026

https://open.spotify.com/track/6D2ZLFTjRUjw5r8Qsy74Qr?si=183e51f7b17347c9

https://open.spotify.com/track/6eMHmj1GbfWOn3bgLMLXQO?si=00fa6047184b46d1

You can consider yourself lucky. Believe my last Discover Weekly was about 50% Ai generated bs. Time leave Spotify.

I'm also starting to get Ai slop too. It's instantly noticeable for being fake music. I go to the "artist's" page and say to not play any songs by said "artist" when they show up on my Spotify. I am disgusted with this Ai slop.

Not to mention it's not even supposed to be on Spotify by their own terms but they allow it just like other websites with similar terms for whatever insane reason. You're only supposed to upload songs you have the copyright to, right? No one owns the copyright to this Ai slop because it falls under fair use laws which means anyone can use it for whatever since a human didn't create it, but they act like the people that generate Ai slop to try and profit off it are the owners of that slop when they are not by law. Uuuuuugh

Count me in as well. Because I listened to a lot of ambient, I was recommended a playlist "Floating Through Space". The names of all the artists and songs are obviously generated using a simple algorithm, the graphics that go with the music are all generated via simple AI.  And when I page through the artist landing pages, they all show "Verified Artist", and the "number of monthly listeners" appears to be some random number between about 20,000 and 500,000.  All the songs that I've played so far could easily be from the same artist.

I really feel sorry for actual artists in genres like this (simple, instrumental) that are easy to autogenerate. I've experiments with Udio myself and got some interesting results, but to bring the song to a really interesting place currently (late 2025) requires as much time and effort as working on my own songs. However I will admit that sometimes the AI suggests musical or lyric ideas I'd never come up with myself in a million years. For various reasons I have to work alone and don't have a collaborator but experimenting the AI workflow I can see its value.

But I still wish there was some for spotify's recommendation engine to recommend real artists who are putting effort into their own creations.

Probably, I am one of the few lucky ones. I haven't noticed AI songs on my weekly discover playlist so far; However, my YouTube is inundated with people complaining their recommended playlists are full of fake artists. That's a shame, especially now that Spotify has ramped up its subscription fees.
