Why different albums with same name?

Hi,

having different albums with same names is rather annoying. For example Chris Isaak Heart Shaped World exists as spotify:album:5Das42Qx4AoU9iT4M7PW3U and spotify:album:4BdWGUgGvnD6QjrOrU2JZt

If you like a song in one album, it obviously will not show up in the other one. Besides, the tracks differ.

Can anybody explain why this is necessary?

There can be a few reasons why different albums might have the same name:

  1. Coincidence: Sometimes, artists may come up with the same album name by coincidence. This is more likely to happen if the album name is a common phrase or word.

  2. Homage or Tribute: An artist or band might name their album after another album as a homage or tribute to that album or artist. For example, the band Metallica named their album "Garage Inc." as a tribute to their early days playing cover songs in garages.

  3. Re-release or Re-issue: Sometimes, albums are re-released or re-issued under the same name with updated or additional content, such as bonus tracks or new remixes.

  4. Different artists: It's possible for two different artists to release an album with the same name. This can be confusing for fans, but it's not uncommon for artists to use similar or identical album titles.

In any case, it's important to pay attention to the artist and release year when searching for or purchasing an album to avoid confusion.
