Hey Community!
Eurovision 2021 is so close. It's my favorite music event to watch every year and I'm very excited to see it in a semi-regular format as before.
The first semi-final is today so thought to have a fun topic:
Which track would get your 12 points from all the tracks?
You can find the full Eurovision track list here:

I'd go first but I'm still going through all the tracks so not much idea of a favorite yet 😁
I haven't listened to all of the entries yet. I suppose the second semi-final is today?
Anyway, I am rather certain I'll give my 12 points to Ukraine for their techno rave tune.
"On the edge of forest an owl is blowing into the water" is such a pretty lyric line.
And not to mention sowing hemp and sowing green ones. :') But seriously, such a good tune. It was also not made for Eurovision - was made to be the party-starter at festivals.. and I could hear the party get started, the crowd loved this song! 😄
Another song that I really liked was Hooverphonics, their song sounded so mature and well-written in comparison to most i heard in 1st semifinal. I'm pleased and quite surprised they also passed on to final, because it doesn't really sound like an Eurovision song... Very little glitter (her dress was shimmering though) and surplus energy was not uncontrollably unleashed either.. 😅
I can hear some harmonic similarities with Lana Del Rey's "The Blackest Day" in that song.
Malta's song is super popular and I can (almost) see why, but I am not into the extremely aggressive "there's nothing for you here, boi! >:)" vibes this song was full of.
What do you think, @Katerina? : )
After watching the final, I was actually really surprised Ukraine didn't do better!
I agree @Sebasty - their track was lovely! It was fast-paced, the stage presence looked amazing and tailored to the track, the vibes it gave were super techno and dance-y. Loved it!
Found out on Reddit that their track was in a genre called Folkotronica or sth (hopefully I remembered it right!). I really like this genre.
France's song (and Switzerland's personally), were both SO impeccable, you're spot on @Hubo !
It was so surprising to me that the jury's votes picked them as top 2 and then the ultimate surprise was that Italy won thanks to the people's votes.
Italy's stage presence and track were both good too - not sure how it scored so differently with juries and people! Glad they won though, they had a great song 🇮🇹
The singer Barbara Pravi is second place after the country

I actually wasn't fond of the French one, heeeee~ 😅
It was like a french movie done recently by some forward-thinking group of people, and the movie has won some critical awards. I could see all the hard work and raw emotion, but at the same time I felt a bit dizzy.
Ukraine got a ton of public votes which is really nice (and their reaction to seeing this was rather astonished, lol), but.. not enough to beat the high scores of some other acts. : )
It was pain to see Malta getting like 60 public points. They already looked really low at that point, god lmao.
@Sebasty You mentioned feeling dizzy and that reminded me of the weird lighting/camera effects during the French song. Not sure how my brain just removed it from memory but that made me a bit dizzy too. I think at some point, I just closed my eyes and was listening rather than watching the performance 😅
About the Maltese song, I actually read online after the competition that it was a favorite to win. After watching the final, not sure on the why, it felt like a copy of the Israeli winner a couple years back.
Usually similar style to previous winners tracks don't do well from experience. I remember after a guy with a violin won once (was it Russia? I remember the track was called Fairytale or something similar), the following year at least a couple of countries had some violin act in their performance but I don't think any did as well as winning.
