I don't do the whole follow for follow thing; it's an obligation that's pointless, because having followers means nothing, if people aren't listening to your playlists on a regular basis, even if that's just once a month or a certain time during the year, each year (because it has a holiday or seasonal theme).
Having or not having monthly listeners is what affects the searchability of your playlists. I don't like the idea of having someone following my playlist, because I followed that person's playlist, out of a feeling of guilt. If you like mine, cool. If you don't, that's fine. Following it, but listening to it does no good for either party.
