Looking for: Hardcore EDM + Metal

Looking for: Hardcore EDM + Metal

So, I'm looking for recommendations of artists that might fit into both the Hardcore EDM and Metal genres. I have been pretty unsuccessful in finding exactly what I was looking for, so I figured the community might be able to help.

What I'm looking for is a song that both has the fast-pased, consistent, repetitive beats of Hardcore EDM mixed with the vocals of Metal music. The vocals could range anywhere from Post-hardcore to Screamo to Black Metal or anything inbetween. Something that sounds chaotic and powerful, but with an underlying pattern (as bad of a description as that might be).

Here's an example of a couple songs that are leaning on the edge, but with less aggressive vocals.

Call me it. (500 Tortures)

Send Me To **bleep**

POWA OF DA WILDANES

So far the closest songs that I've found are along the lines of:

End of an Empire

Void Malign

Vihko

However, these still all feel like the focus is on the guitar, where as what I'm looking for is a focus on the beats and the Metal vocals as a supplement.

I'm open to all suggestions! Thanks! ❤️

Hi Maybe you would like our band, we mix some genres like electronic and jazz with metal,give us a listen 🙂

What is EDM, exactly? Does that stand for Electronic Dance Music? I'm guessing?

@user-removed EDM is electronic dance music indeed. It's a larger category that will fit all the dancable electronic stuff.
The problem's that many genres like dubstep can have material that's definitely not club-suitable music (unless one's a super creative DJ). That means that some smaller specific genres reach wider than the main category (EDM in this case) does.

There are various debates going on about all this, but this is how I see it 🙂

@Goslopo

I can recommend Drumcorps, a metal/hardcore inspired breakcore artist that joins various kind of metal sounds with some fab beats.

It's breakcore though, so it will turn into some vicious mess at some point :')

Bong-Ra, Enduser and some other figures under Similar Artists follow similar suit.

So, it sounds like a genre that many styles of music with a hint of "electronic?" Because when I listen to it, I don't interpret "all kinds of music." It still sounds pretty distinct to me. Mybe I haven't listened to enough of it. I haven't even heard any EDM that remotely sounded like any other genre. However, I did listen to one album that  was kind of akin to acid house.

@user-removed

As much as I've listened to music that could be called "EDM", it usually sounds clearly like electronic music, I agree with you on that.

I have had little issues with some pop music that sounds like some chillout type of EDM. Sounds like it, but people say it's not.

But I'm not listening to pop music and EDM that much to know a lot better. :')

Electronic music (where EDM is just a subcategory) is a fantastic collection of all kinds of music. From Pierre Schaeffer (one of those that tried contemprary recording and sampling methods for the first time, reassembling foley recordings to tracks and all that) to, well, Lorn, Venetian Snares, Amon Tobin, Esgar for example.
While I can't sometimes figure out if this beat is EDM or not, I don't really care about genres... : )

I'm not saying that any other large genre is not fantastic, I just haven't really gone nect deep into it yet. 🙂

@Sebasty

Sweet, this hits pretty dang close to what I was looking for! I've always found breakcore a bit disorganized personally, but I think this is going to prompt me to look a bit further into the genre than just the surface. Thanks!

Also, for anyone else stopping by this post, I've also found that a fair bit of speedcore and terrorcore also fit my initial description.

I think the top trap edm djs are incorporating screamo vocals more. My favs I’ve found so far are by Slander and Kayzo:

@Uang55 Thanks for the tracks! Kneel Before Me actually showed up in my Discover Weekly this week, but I had never heard of Kayzo. The Asking Alexandria vocals fit surprisingly well into Kneel Before Me and it seems really tastefully done in both tracks.

I'm seeing more and more examples of Dubstep integrating Metal vocals into their tracks. I may have better luck just looking into that genre and dropping my hope for a Hardcore EDM + Metal resurgence.

Coming out of C94 this year, many of the traditional eastern Hardcore EDM acts were branching out to include more House/Dubstep elements into their albums. I may be incorrrect, but it seems like even the acts left over from the early 2000's are burning out on the genre.

I know this response comes really late, but this search (for me at least) has been going on for YEARS and I'm still no closer than it seems you are. I want to believe I have a pretty good grasp on what your looking for, and the closest thing I can share is a track from my youth called "The Shizit - Audio Jihad II"

https://youtu.be/6p_3uF3ZNBE

However, the song is a bit more punk than metal, and obviously dated. But aside from the breaks section, it mostly maintains the repetitive Hardcore beat structure I think your looking for. I simply haven't been able to find anything else that comes closer. 😞

Edit: There are other tracks on that album that also fit that decription like "Point, Click, Kill" (this one's on Spotify)

 @Cody_Sheffield Wow ya that's actually super close to the kind of stuff I'm looking for. Thanks for the input! Dang though, according to their Wikipedia they stopped actively creating content around 2002. Their frontman J.P. Anderson is still actively creating music under the new band Rabbit Junk. Here's a couple related songs:

Rabbit Junk - Shadow Horizon

Rabbit Junk - Gravity Hero

This also makes me think that Digital Hardcore may have been a better name for what I was looking for.

In response to this topic, I threw together a collaborative playlist centered around the Digital Hardcore genre. It may branch out a bit further than that, but ideally keep that as the primary genre. It's extremely small as of this post so feel free to throw in some songs if you find some!

You should listen to Wasted space by Kayzo. Ive had it on repeat for the past week!

@BlazerWR Thanks for letting us know! I love the Underoath feature! Here's a link for anyone curious:

For anyone else that wants something in this vein, Blue Stahli just released a remixed version of one of his previous albums, The Dev!l:

I've been listening more to metal than anything, but have recently listened a lot to The Browing. They are more a metalband than anything else, but incorporate electronic music into their songs.

The Browning - Dragon
The Browning - Pure Evil

I know this is not Hardcore EDM + Metal but this is one of the only EDM songs that I instantly fell in love with.    NO VOCALS!!  Also, I was looking for  the proper thread to put this song into.

Listen to this one: Carnage- The Browning

I know this might be a very late reply.

I saw that you put some links of tpazolite and camellia, tpazo is a member of the tanoc, and in one of em there's another guy that does speedcore, which is kobaryo with his aliases.

https://open.spotify.com/track/4ZLzlRTVMl67emcD0TERCl?si=MsPttvBfTqeAryJGaGbZdg&utm_source=copy-link This might be a good one.

I suggest you to check out songs made by his HR/HM alias which is blaxervant. (it doesn't have a spoty profile)
