Use the full Spotify link, not the abbreviated one that's only internal for when you're on Spotify.(When in doubt, add both.)
They keep changing how it looks to Follow (for a while it was a heart symbol). Nowadays you either click Follow or Save To My Library. 
You can share a whole playlist, or just one song from a playlist, or your own song from your own Profile. Just click the three dots wherever you are to find the links.

Hi, I listened to 26 minutes of your playlist thus far.  It is a very enjoyable playlist.  I will listen to some more of it another time.

I don`t see the ``Follow`` button anywhere on Spotify.  As such, I used the ``Save to my library`` option to follow you.  I don`t like this idea by Spotify.  I can see it becoming a problem, with my library being clogged ùp with playlists I didn`t create myself (once I begin to follow more people).

Anyway, you can check your ``follows`` to see if it went up by 1.

Yes, following a lot of playlists can cause yours to get buried in the list. However, you can easily find all of yours without anyone elses, by always going to the link of your Profile and viewing your public playlists. Somehow there are 2 views. If I go to my playlists from the same door everyone else uses, then I see all the playlists I've followed. But if I click the Spotify app on my computer and go in that way, then under the little face thingy in the upper right if I pull up my playists there it only shows the ones I have created and curate myself.

Also, always use the backdoor to enter Spotify, so you don't get bombarded with a bunch of ads and suggestions that aren't what you're aiming for 😉
