Exclude Device From Taste Profile.

Exclude Device From Taste Profile.

I think it would be a really good feature if there was an option to "remove taste from profile" option on a device just like how you can remove a playlist from your taste profile. When im listening to spotify while playing games, working or while just relaxing in my room i like to listen to my favorite albums, but i have my account linked to my amazon echo to also listen to music i like but Alexa is more of a sociable kind of thing so when guests are over it can sometimes be used to just play background noise or if its more of a party people will put requests in. and the people i live with also use the echo, in fact they use it far more than i do because i prefer to listen to music in private so 90% of the music that gets played off it is not really my taste but it gets put on my public profile when i don't actually listen to that kind of music. I feel like this is a very specific problem and i understand that i can just make playlists for people and exclude those from my profile but its to much hassle to ask alexa to put on a playlist and get her to skip to a song compared to just asking her to play the song and making a playlist takes time as well.

I would personally find this feature extremely handy and im sure plenty of people would to.

Hey there @ColeGeary

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community. We moved your post from the Ideas board to the relevant Help board, where it fits better.

While we understand the main idea, there are a few things we'd like to clarify first so you can submit your idea again focusing only on the feature request.

As a workaround, you can play music from your mobile device on Alexa using the Connect feature. That way you can activate the private session so the music you listen to won't affect your recommendations.

On another note, when other people would like to use the device as well, you can start a Jam activating the private session first. Then, they can add songs to the queue and those won't have effect on your account.

Taking the above into account, feel free to submit your idea again, with emphasis on the feature request (exclude device from taste profile).

Hope this clears things up. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.
