Hey folks,

Thanks for the replies.

While we are aware of some issues like this on non-work networks, when it comes to work environments we cannot guarantee functionality, as that is strongly dependent on the local setup, restrictions, filters, etc. We have seen on some occasions that flushing DNS settings seems to help, so you're welcome to try that.

In the meantime, we will continue to monitor this and let you know when we have news on the topic. Be advised however that we cannot say for certain at the moment when or if this is going to get addressed for work networks.

Cheers!

Im trying to listen to my music but spotify is being funky and wont let me ive been trying to listen all day it started at 7:30 its now 3:40. What do i do? I just want my safe place back and it working. What do i do to fix it?

This is still happening, though it worked briefly yesterday. Today is back to 429 error message.

My company did indeed make a change.  They changed some DNS rules as a way to block so many ads from hitting the company network.  Once they undid their DNS changes the webplayer did start working again.  I have spotify family premium so I shouldn't be getting ads.  I don't know the details of the changes they made/undid.

So if you are having this problem at work talk to your IT department about recent changes they made regarding DNS.

Same problem here since yesterday

Hey, I'm still experiencing this issue. I've tried different browsers (firefox, chrome) and incognito and the issue keeps happening. The Account overview page is accessible

I am getting this same issue for the past week and unable to use web player (that I have always used.) This sucks. Since it was almost a year ago for most of these posts, was there a solution that was found and posted somewhere?

Same issue. Work environment. I can't access from the app or the web player. Incognito doesn't make a difference. Any update on this?

This just started happening in the past couple of days, and has still not cleared up. My work environment is not going to alter their network. So hopefully you can fix this, because it is clearly happening to lots of others. If not, I will have to cancel my subscription. The whole point is to listen to music while working.

Since I am having the same issue as many others, I checked my host file and there are no entries found for Spotify in mine.  I had no issues until the last 2 weeks or so and before that no issue whatsoever.

This issue seems to have gotten even worse over the last 24 hours or so

Same problem for me aswell

Does it mean I was hacked? How can I resolve the problem of what to do when "429"Too many requests?" page blocks me from accessing my premium Spotify account?

I'm also having the same issue 429 Too Many Requests and I'm not on any company network. I am on my own network.

Me also. I have clearad cached memory also but it didt help

Joan,

I hope this issue has been escalated to the concerned team. This issue surfaced in February 2024, and started impacting potentially millions of users across the globe who're trying to access Spotify on their work network (in office or from home while on company VPN).

My suspicion is that someone in your cloud infrastructure team (SRE team) has applied a per-I.P. address limit without the basic knowledge of how I.P. addresses work. When you're sitting in a corporate environment, then potentially tens of thousands of employees have the exact same external I.P. address.

And there is no way for your customers to work around this issue while we are on the work network. We cannot make our I.P. address become different simply by using a different browser or by opening Spotify web player in Incognito mode. You must hunt for the person who has applied this configuration, and get this undone -- because the impact of this issue is across your entire customer base across the globe.

I am having the same problem. It is when attempting to use the webplayer

Also having this issue

Just to log my annoyance, all of a sudden I cannot access the webapp for Spotify from work, fix it please

Also having this issue with the web player at work.  Friend from another company is experiencing it on their PC as well, so it's not just my work environment. Sounds like a Spotify issue rather than a network issue.  Please escalate it to the appropriate team for those of us who can't download the app.

I started having the same issue two days ago.
I use web version because I can't download the desktop app. I've used it for months without issue, but suddenly it said "429 Too many requests". I've closed it and only opened Spotify once per day to see if it is working, aannd-- nothing. Nada. Zilch. My phone plays it just fine but the service isn't reliable.

I've tried everything I could to fix the issue:

  • Clearing Cookies, Cache, Browsing History, & Thin Client,
  • Flush DNS
  • Use a different Browser
  • Incognito mode
  • Restart computer

What's weird is I can log on just fine but the second after logging in and attempting to load the next screens it defaults to the same screen. I have no answers left, I'm convinced this in an issue with Spotify itself, not the user's computer.
