My Question or Issue:

I have set the automatic volume control / balance so that all songs have the same 'loudness' - however, it doesnt work and consequently have to adjust the volume all the time... I have downloaded all songs now, but the result is still the same... is this normal or is there anything I can do? xx thanks

Hi, there @Alfred-o,

Thanks for the post.

You should be able to normalize the volume of all songs so that they all sound fairly with the same loudness, by changing the following settings under Settings > Audio Quality:

  • Normalize Volume - turn this On.
  • Volume level - set this to Normal.

You can also try adjusting the quality of the songs to Very High as this will produce the highest quality playback.

Note that some tracks are indeed uploaded with louder audio than others, but this shouldn't be noticeable when Normalize Volume is turned on.

Hope this helps.

Hey @Improyounoob,

Thanks for posting here and welcome.

On mobile devices, you can find these options by following these steps:

  • Volume normalization: Sets the same loudness level for all tracks. To find it, tap the picture profile at the top-right of the screen> go to Settings and privacy> Playback. There, locate Volume controls> Volume normalization.
  • Volume level: adjust the volume for your environment. It can be found under Volume controls as well.
  • The quality of songs can be found under Media quality. To find it, tap the picture profile at the top-right of the screen> go to Settings and privacy> Media quality. There, it's possible to adjust quality for audio, video or downloads, as well as when you're using Wi-Fi or cellular streaming.

If your account is on free service, these options might vary as music quality can be higher for Premium accounts.

If perhaps you're having issues with locating these options, please let us know. Include the make/model and OS of the affected devices along with the Spotify version you're running there.

We'll be on the lookout!
