Optimizing Spotify Performance on Laptop i5 Processors

Optimizing Spotify Performance on Laptop i5 Processors

Hello Spotify Community,

I've been experiencing performance issues with Spotify on my laptop, especially when multitasking with other applications. The app sometimes lags, freezes, or consumes high CPU resources, making it difficult to stream music smoothly. I’ve tried adjusting settings, clearing the cache, and even reinstalling the app, but the problem persists.

I’m currently using a laptop i5 with sufficient RAM and an SSD, yet Spotify still struggles when running alongside other tasks. Sometimes, background processes seem to interfere with playback, causing audio stuttering or slow UI responses. I’ve checked the task manager and noticed CPU spikes when switching between playlists or using the search function. Has anyone else faced similar issues on a similar setup? If so, what tweaks or system optimizations have helped you get a smoother experience?

I’ve already looked through some helpful discussions on community.spotify.com but would love to hear direct experiences from fellow users. Any advice on reducing resource usage or improving playback performance would be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Gabriellabrowne

I would recommend disabling hardware acceleration, it uses your computer's GPU to handle tasks, which can sometimes lead to high CPU usage if it's not optimized. Check if Hardware acceleration is enabled and disable it; then your computer CPU may drop back to the ordinary values.
