I want to share a purchased audiobook with a member on my family plan.

My daughter (on our family plan) wants to listen to an audiobook that is not part of the free library. In her Spotify app on her tablet, it said that books could not be purchased on the app, so I purchased it on the computer via my account. Shouldn't I be able to share the now-paid-for book with her since she is on the family plan account? I sure as hell didn't pay $33 to listen to this book myself.

Thanks for posting in the Community.

 

Right now, it's not possible to share an audiobook with Premium Family plan members. The purchase is bound to a specific account and can be used only with the account used for the purchase.

 

With that being said, your daughter needs to purchase the audiobooks she'd like to read through her own account (through the computer).

With that being said, your daughter needs to purchase the audiobooks she'd like to read through her own account (through the computer).

So what is family and our premium about the Family Premium acounts?  Not all accounts get full premium features and family members are not allowed to share or have purchase managed by the plan manager. Seems like Family and Premium are the wrong words to use.

Yeah this is lame. Why does only the plan manager get audiobook airtime? There is nothing premium or family about this... I want the family plan to work like a bookshelf in my home... when someone buys a book it ought to be available to the entire family... when we purchase this plan, the hours ought to be shared with everyone.

Furthermore... why are digital books so expensive and often more than real books?

My Question or Issue

I have listened to an audiobook. I shared a link with my daughter so she can listen to it as well. Although she is a member of my family plan she has to pay before listening to the audiobook. Explicit content is on and there is 10 hour listening time left on our account.


What am I missing causing this behavior?

Thanks for the explanation. Is there any future change planned which makes family members able to als listen to the audiobook for free ??

 

I find it a bit strange that you pay a premium price for your family but only 1 member gets a specific function 😑
