Hi there, I'm relatively new to Spotify. I love the service, but I'm kind of weirded out by one thing: of late, they've been playing two Trojan (condom) ads. This is fine in and of itself, but I listen to my music in common areas a lot, places where my family can hear. When it comes to the younger kids, I'm nervous about them hearing it (they also have Spotify accounts of their own, so I'm a little concerned about that, too, because the ads are a bit...specific); with the older relatives, I know it'll just be too weird. Is there any way to report an ad or stop if from playing on your personal Spotify? I don't mind ads at all--I just mind this ad, considering the fact that it's legitimately weird. Thank you in advance!

I concur. It's understandable that Trojan pays to be advertised, however, it's inappropriate and gross. I am very glad I didn't have Spotify playing for my nieces and nephews when that commercial came on. It's enough for me to consider using a different music site other than Spotify..
I was very disappointed and shocked to hear these commercial ads on Spotify. Not only is it inappropriate if younger listeners are in ear-shot, but it is just inappropriate altogether. The commercial was not just a quick 30-second commercial advertising condoms, it went on for literally over 2 minutes long. That is ridiculous and the advertisement itself was very unpleasent to hear. Personally I was offended by hearing this unnecessary ad and think if Spotify wants to continue their creative and great online music entertainment program, they best get rid of these ads.
Interesting that the durex ad was removed but now we're plagued with Trojan condoms and Chainsaw massacre ads!!! This is ridiculous and seriously makes spotify incredible annoying.
While that campaign may have been removed from Spotify, there is now another Trojan ad running. If all ads are not family friendly I can't continue to use Spotify.
I, too, came here just because of that commercial. I am an adult and listen to Spotify at work. There are other adults and children around within ear shot of my computer and it is inappropriate to say the least when that garbage comes on. I realize that sponsors allow me to be able to listen for free, but there should be standards for the content of tone of the ads, both of which are inappropriate in this case.
...Yes, but you've replaced them with a (much worse) Trojan ad campaign. Every. Single. Ad.
I know you need advertising dollars, but it would have been great to listen to Spotify this Christmas with my family, instead of be embarrassed by a slew of condom ads and have to turn it off.
Or is this how you encourage premium subscriptions?
to the first coment i have a facebook therefore i have an acount and thank you for your suport everyone else
I really don't want to hear about "orgasmic pleasure" while I'm listening to music. I'm not going to pull a "my kids listen to my playlists" thing, and I do listen to music that isn't family-friendly, but that doesn't mean I want to hear about Trojans, unless they're the kind that come in a wooden horse.
Totally agree! I was listening to songs appropriate for my younger brothers- elementary school, people- and then this condom commercial pops up and I scramble for the mute- which by the way, pauses the commercial. So what am I supposed to do? There should be an ad filter. Something that we can use to set preferences, and exclude stuff.
Seriously Spotify! Offensive, and inappropriate. Please get rid of the Condom Commercials.
I really don't feel comfortable and happy to hear the trojan ad while enjoying the beautiful music.
please take it off asap.
thank you.
I had 2 of those commercials in a row. All the commercials i've had for the past few days are those. I'm sick of hearing about condoms.. it's inappropriate and children use Spotify.
I'm not listening to music to hear about condoms, sorry to disappoint, Spotify.
I've just gotten that ad and remade an account so i can disconnect from facebook and change the age. It's rather frustrating that there's no option to opt out of this kind of ad.
If there's an alternative to spotify for windows desktop I'd have changed right away.
Hi, just wanted to add my voice, I too think the Trojan and also the Texas Chainsaw Massacre ads are inappropriate. The TCM ad is quite disturbing as someone who doesn't like/watch grisly horror movies.
I don't have any problem with ads, just think they should be kept appropriate for any circumstance. Hope this can be resolved. Thanks.
I think condom ads aren't really what I want to hear while I'm at work, though. Much like how google has "safe" search, Spotify should have an area in settings that should filter certain types of ads based on the criteria that I set, not based on my user profile.
This issue is NOT SOLVED! Spotify has added Trojan Condems ads to their selection. Enough is ENOUGH! I left Pandora because spotify had much better features, but I REFUSE to listen and use spotify if the ads they continue to play are PORN BASED.
SPOTIFY, please remove you're offensive advertisements! YOU HAVE CHILDREN USING YOUR SOFTWARE. This is highly offensive. I will be reporting a bug that *hopefully* will get someone off their butt and do something about this!
Edit: The same trojan condom ad has played twice in a row. So far Spotify, YOU ARE 2 for 2 for your ads!
I was just having the same issue. Enjoying my nice instrumental music and then suddenly I'm having condoms hawked from my computer--unsubtly hawked. I thoroughly enjoy Spotify, and I have no problem with ads in general, but it would be nice to either block a certain ad or somehow filter the ad content. Is there a way to do that?
I just came to complain about the same thing, too! I listen to Spotify at work at my desk and so far, I've had to listen to "Trojan Man" about four times in the last hour. I don't mind ads either, but is there any way to flag an inappropriate ad? I don't want to keep having to scramble for mute every time it comes on or for a client to walk in right when it starts (I work in a very conservative office).
I agree, these Trojan ads are becoming more frequent and need to be removed. If they are not taken care of, I will discontinue using Spotify. I really hope that this will be taken care of before I have to do that because I like Spotify much better than I like Pandora. However, I will buy every album in my playlist before I will listen to condom advertisements over and over. Please take care of this issue.
