Do you plan out which music you’ll listen to on Spotify, or listen more spontaneously?

One thing that I’ve noticed I do on Spotify more often in recent months is plan out which artists I’ll listen to that day. Whether they’re old favorites or artists I haven’t listened to as often, I like to use the “Search” feature to plan out which artists I’ll listen to, and even in which order.
I’d say I prefer to choose by myself which songs and artists I’ll listen to on Spotify, since I have better control over what I think I’ll enjoy that day—as opposed to listening in a way that would introduce more randomization or unexpected songs, such as shuffling a playlist, listening to a Daily Mix, or using Autoplay. However, I can also see that these features on Spotify can be useful (e.g. to make new discoveries of songs that one appreciates by being introduced to unfamiliar music).
I’m curious to hear from others about whether you also plan out the music you’ll listen to, or whether you prefer more of an element of surprise in the music you’ll listen to while using Spotify—as well as any reasons for your listening habits to this extent.
Cheers!
