Academic Use of Spotify Data for PhD Research

Hello, 

I’m a PhD student researching popularity in music and have used Spotify Web API in the past for my work.

Currently, the developer T&C prohibit the training of ML and AI models on Spotify content, including audio features & metadata. Could anyone direct me to the right contact to discuss potential permissions or guidelines for academic use?

I have contacted Spotify's support email about this but they were unable to provide me with any feedback.

You can use the dataset of the Spotify Million Playlist Dataset Challenge and the dataset of the Spotify Sequential Skip Prediction Challenge for research purposes.

Thanks for the response! Where does it state that I'm only allowed to use those datasets? 

I'm looking for official clarification on the issue.

You've read yourself the Spotify Web API doesn't allow it.

Also, you will get rate limited quickly when you use the Get Audio Features endpoint.

Thanks! Do you know if I can still use data collected before the change to the Developer T&C (prior to May 2023)? There's also some other research datasets from the past few years that contain Audio Features, is it okay to still use them as well?

have you found a way to get an official statement/serious contact with Spoitfy? I have the same situation as I would like to use data within my PhD and therefore, like to discuss some guidelines of usage with Spotify officially.

Hi, I would like to access this dataset Spotify Sequential Skip Prediction Challenge but the data seem not available because when we hit download it said "Nosuchbucket". Where can we find this dataset? Now only the minidataset is available.

Hi, I am a undergraduate student at NYU and I am doing a forecasting project for my class. For this project (purely academic in nature) I need access to audio features of approximately 800 tracks. I realise spotify deprecated the API for this kind of access, but I was hoping an exception might be made for academic purposes. Please let me know if there is somewhere I was lodge an official request. I can have my professor confirm the purpose as well
