Cloning Spotify and Cloning in General

Hey, I just graduated and I am trying to get some experience by cloning things I use. I emailed the company telling them I loved the product and that I wanted to clone it.

Since they only have a mobile App, I wanted to make a web version of it so I asked if I could have access to their pictures if not that was all good.

They responded with me not wanting to clone their product at all and then asked me to ask other companies what they thought. Their response will be in the bottom.

I was wondering what Spotify's Stance on that was to cloning?

If I wanted to build a Spotify web clone( for example) because I'm trying to learn Front End and put that on my resume would that alright? If not why?

I don't plan on profiting from any of my projects I'm building I'm just trying to learn so I can apply for a job.

I apologize for the giant wall of text I was just confused when I got my response and I wanted to take them up and ask other companies for their opinion.

We definitely will not allow you to build a clone version of the COMPANY APP.

No other company will allow to it either.

You can try emailing other companies and see what response you get. "
