Deleting duplicate playlisted tracks

A couple of weeks I made this post. It looks like it got merged into another one though. 

However, the question remains how to achieve this on the API? How can I remove duplicates from a playlist without spotify removing all instances of a track? The workaround I have for now is to just add one back, but feels like a bug in the API/there should be a flag to prevent this?
