[Developer] Access private playlists in folders (no need for a new endpoint)

[Developer] Access private playlists in folders (no need for a new endpoint)

I know there is no API endpoint for folders and the idea for this has been posted several times. But as soon as playlists are put into a folder I cannot retrieve them from the API.

Would be amazing to be able to access all private playlists (regardless of whether they are contained inside folders or not).

Best wishes,

Shahryar

I would also love for folders to be in the API! If Spotify does this, then they would be unstoppable. But for now, other API-using applications have to come up with 3rd party solutions. Why would Spotify want a terrible user experience about folders? They don't, so please add this!

I use folders all the time.

and I have no problem accessing any of the playlists within them.

you may have to wait for the system to refresh before you request for access to the playlists again.

yes having an API to work with folders would be very useful.

currently I use a shell script to scrape my local Mac cache that contains the playlist folders and the IDs of the playlists they contain.

i create a JSON from it and use it recreate My  own tree structure. as i Parse it, I create the folders, get the contained playlist IDs, then fetch the playlist name and playlist tracks IDs. I add the playlist and the track IDs.

in my program when the user selects a folder or a playlist.   I then use the contained track IDs and GET the track data, parse

it and add it to the playlist

Hey, sorry for the very late reply - I don't frequent the forum as much as I should.

That's actually a good interim solution for me. Will give it a go and see if it still works.

Thanks.
