Does quota modes apply to Android SDK API as well?

I am planing to develop an Android app (simple player) which would communicate with Spotify app through Android SDK API (PlayerApi for controlling playback and ContentApi to browse recommendations). I won't use Web API, which apparently has usage limits/quota modes.

However I am not able to find any explicit info that says that communication through Android SDK API has quota modes as well...

So do I need to request Quota Extension and submit my app for review to Spotify team before I release my app on Google Play store?
