Help understanding quota extension rejection for my portfolio project

Help understanding quota extension rejection for my portfolio project

Hi,

I’m building a feature in my portfolio website integrating Spotify to show what I’m currently listening to. The idea is to have a small player displaying the current song data, and also allow users to:

  • Search for songs using a search bar

  • Add tracks to my listening queue or to a specific playlist

  • Skip the currently playing track

I had everything working before using the Web API, but now the necessary scopes/features seem to require an approved Extension request. I’ve submitted three quota extension requests so far, but two were rejected and the last one is still unreviewed.

Here’s a quick overview of my requests:

  • May 5, 2025 — Unreviewed

  • September 1, 2024 — Rejected

  • August 4, 2023 — Rejected

I’ve read through Spotify's terms and policies and believe my use case complies with them. It’s a personal portfolio project, not commercial, and the interactions are limited to basic playback controls and playlist management.

Could someone shed some light on why it might be getting rejected, or what I could improve in the request? I'd love to get this working again!

Thanks in advance!

Yuri
