My Question or Issue

This is my first time building an application.  I am writing code in Python.  I am aiming to build something to put on resume and for personal bragging rights.  I am creating an application that tracks what you listen to and recommends new songs based on the data retrieved from the account.  Can anyone give me steps that I should have down first or literally any piece of anything to point me in the right direction?  As this is my first project, I don't know what I don't know, so any new information is valuable!  Thanks in advance
