Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

We have been using those SDKs since they became available.

Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.

We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.

We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".

We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.

We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.

We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.

Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.

You write:

"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

Yes I was partly incorrect..it's only supported on iOS. No Android.

I apologize. I have IOS and did not realize that Android was not supported. This whole thing stinks!

To high heaven.

Using the amazing slow downer with my Spotify Playlists has been a very important tool for my growth as a musician.  And at my age, I need all the help I can get. Why would Spotify end its availability for that purpose. The connection has actually increased my use of Spotify. What am I missing?

Yes, I'm the same. I use Spotify for music practice , which means lots of
plays and repeats in a single session, and more plays than I would if just
listening (normally.
)

Spotify app is not sucks when u compare it to an app like VOX which allows u to fine tune ur music to the way u like it.. and it’s a shame u can’t even have a music app that not only give u the latest music but also give u the controls to really enjoy ur music like VOX did!

Removal of support for ASD from Spotify is awful. As a musician I rely on spotify to listen , build playlists, and learn new tunes. The slow down function offered by ASD app is the best tool for me (and countless others) and how I need to interact with content from Spotify. I am a long time user of Spotify (8 years?) and this disconnect makes me reconsider my renewal and recommendation to others. I want to support and pay for legit means to access the music I listen to. this action by Spotify puts me back to potentially Downloading content (illegal) to be able to learn new music.  Terrible decision. You’re not just losing a single 3 party app developer, but a whole group of individuals who had faith that Spotify was in support of musicians.

I am a user if ASD.  Music instructors and student learn from this app by being able to slow down their favorite songs and learn from professional artist. . The ability to be able to slow down Spotify content has been very helpful for many of us that use ASD.  For decades artist have listened to other artist to learn from them.  Some of those artist are now professionals that have music on Spotify.  All performers on the radio have influences from other industry icons.  Please reconsider removing the ability for us to use Spotify content to learn from.  It is an important tool for those who subscribe.

I use the Amazing Slow Down app and Spotify to practice the piano for Hazzard gigs using the original versions from Spotify. It has been extremely helpful. Please continue to allow is this possibility. Thank you.

I am done with Spotify over this. I contacted their Facebook page and was given a patronizing response. I don't use ios but I was given and old phone from a friend. Signed up for apple music. Manually create

d playlists. Took some time but it's done now. Bye bye Spotify. Been here for a long time but cant live without asd as a musician.

I was so thrilled when I a year ago found out that Spotify had started to collaborate with Amazing slowdowner! It helped me every day as a singer and teacher many different places. I could pitch the songs up and down to make it easier to sing for the groups, and when I practised for my own singing gigs, I could easily find out which key was best for me to sing in.

I was so sad when I saw that you’re resigning from ASD, and I really hope you reconsider.

I use this app to help with learning and teaching parts as a drummer and drum teacher. So it was disappointing as a user of Spotify for several years to find out this had been wiped out.

It makes no sense, as this app does not allow any form of downloading or stealing. It simply allows us to use the tracks in ways we would be able to if we owned the music for education... When Spotify makes decisions like this, they are simply weakening their market value... And driving consumers to go and buy more music, rather than rent from their platform.

Which, who knows... Maybe that's a good thing.

Your choice, Spotify... if you want to decrease the value of not only well designed apps that further promote you and increase the value of your product without causing copyright issues... but also by proxy, devalue your own product. Not to mention alienate those partners that have helped Spotify grow.

If it were me... I would work to find a resolution ASAP.

I mostly use Spotify in connection with the Amazing Slow Downer. It's a brilliant tool for adjusting pitch in the hundredth range as my instrument is very sensitive to temperature and humidity changes in the environment. In addition, you can reduce the speed significantly when learning new music titles without the quality suffering noticeably. It would be nice if I could use the created playlists in Spotify again for this purpose in the future. Users might also be willing to pay extra for this option.

Please keep the SDK going, i am a long time Spotify subscriber (since the early invite-only days), and i use ASD in my work as a professional musician. Thank you.

Very disappointed in Spotify for removing functionality wi h enriched it's servi e.

I use this app DAILY as an upcoming musician. I will soon have to purchase Apple Music instead because of this loss in compatibility. I hate that I have to rebuild all my playlists and liked songs in another music streaming service. I’ve used Spotify for so long please don’t let this be a permanent decision.

Well, I just made the switch.
I have a lot of transcribing to do soon.
I got a free month trial of Apple Music, and I found an app that transfers all my playlists!

I too have been an active user of ASD and it's been an invaluable resource/tool in my jazz piano studies. That is a key reason I've kept my Spotify subscription. Without this integration, I don't see the point of continuing my subscription as there are other alternatives to consider. Please continue this SDK and keep ASD integration working!

Apple Music it is!   Bye bye Spotify.

I'm a musician and music teacher. Most of my students used the ASD/Spotify combo for practicing, as did I. I'll have no hesitation changing to a different streaming service and recommending the same to my students as soon as the ability to connect ASD to a different service becomes available.
