Recommendations endpoint returning 404 for my app

Hi,

I’m hitting a consistent 404 issue with the /v1/recommendations endpoint and would appreciate guidance.

My app is set up with Authorization-Code flow; other endpoints (e.g., /v1/me and /v1/tracks/{id}) respond with 200 when I use the same bearer token. My account which is a US, Premium account is on the app’s Users & Access allow-list, and in the Spotify client the privacy toggle “Personalize recommendations based on your listening history” is switched on.

GET https://api.spotify.com/v1/recommendations?seed_genres=pop&limit=1&market=US
Authorization: Bearer BQAYA...QnMaX... (token from Auth-Code flow; scope=user-read-private)
→ HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found (empty body)

The same token returns 200 for /v1/me and /v1/tracks/0VjIjW4GlUZAMYd2vXMi3b.

It looks as though the personalization service is still blocked for my user/app despite the privacy toggle and allow-list entry. Could someone confirm whether an additional permission is required or whether the personalization flag for this app needs to be reset?

I understand you are getting an error when you try to get recommendations from the Spotify API.

According to the documentation, the Get Recommendations endpoint is deprecated. This means that (new) apps cannot use this endpoint anymore. (I cannot confirm or deny if the data sources of that endpoint is up to date with new releases, even for apps that do still have access to it.)

Sadly, I have not found another music recommendation API service yet.
