Spotify "Follow" button?

I'm looking to add a "Follow on Spotify" button to my website, but can't seem to find any info about it in 2025, only old videos that are no longer useful. I mean, I know I could just put a button on my website with the link to my page, but I'd like to get something more automated where they click the button and a popup appears and the user can follow from there.

Is that possible today?

The Spotify Follow Button was officially deprecated on December 15, 2021. This widget once allowed users to follow artists or profiles directly from external websites, but Spotify decided to retire it due to:

• Minimal usage: It accounted for less than 0.1% of followers for any artist.
• Passive experience: Users didn’t receive clear feedback after clicking, and it didn’t encourage deeper engagement.

An alternative could be to put an embedded Spotify player that lets fans instantly find and listen to your music on your website. Or maybe a custom own made button that links to your artist page directly.
