Use of Spotify Web API in Hybrid Radio App – Legal & Technical Questions

Hi,

I’m developing a hybrid audio app that allows users to listen to live radio but skip certain parts like songs or ads and replace them with their own Spotify music via the Web API.

I’d like to clarify

Is it allowed under the Developer Terms to use the Spotify Web API for replacing radio segments with Spotify tracks?

Are there any licensing or commercial restrictions for this use case?

Would I need a commercial agreement or special permission from Spotify?

Thanks for posting in the Community, and welcome aboard!

That’s a really cool idea you’ve come up with. At the moment though, there are a couple of Spotify Developer policies that mean it’s not possible:

• Products or services can’t combine Spotify streams or content with another service.

• Spotify is for personal, non-commercial use only. This means Streaming SDAs (applications) can’t be used commercially, with only limited exceptions for Non-Streaming SDAs. Streaming SDAs also have some extra rules, like restricted monetization.
