Activated Spotify + Hulu but being charged more than my student rate.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can clarify this situation for me since Spotify does not have a direct way to contact them and ask for troubleshooting issues. I guess I'll post my financial woes online for an entire community to see.

I just activated the Spotify + Hulu account but I received an email from Hulu saying I would be charged $7.99 from Hulu but through Spotify billing. I contacted Hulu and asked them about that charge and why I got it from them but it's being billed through Spotify.

Initially, I asked about the history of that charge and why it was being put onto my account since I had just signed up for a "Free Trial" through the Apple iTunes app. The customer service rep told me the charge was a retroactive bill from 2013 and that for some reason I was being charged for a past account. I found this puzzling because whatever past accounts I had used with Hulu, it was not in any way tied to the new account I was using today for the new "Free Trial." Now I understand it's just $7.99 but it's a little irritating when the advertisement says just $5.99 for both services but now I'm going to be charged for both a Hulu subscription of $7.99 and my spotify premium subscription of $4.99.

The customer representative told me that since the charge was not through their company, they could not waive the old fee. I guess I'm wondering what my next steps could be to solve this issue. Hulu directed me to contact Spotify since the billing would be taking place on their end and dispute it with them. Granted, paying a one-time retroactive $7.99 fee from 2013 is not a call for financial crisis but it's frustrating to try and figure out why I'm being billed twice for 2 services that are supposed to be included in a $5.99 bundle.

The basic fee for a Spotify premium for student is of $ 4.99. If you apply from iTunes though, you are going to be charged more, so don't do it from iTunes. You can apply here, for the 4.99 student discount with Hulu included.
