I can't change my country for payment

I can't change my country for payment

I'm trying to change my account information. I moved from Finland to Italy. I have a premium membership but I changed my bank to an Italian bank and it can't pay the subscription. Spotify service doesn't allow me to change the payment card because the settings say I'm still in Finland. However, it also doesn't allow me to change the country settings to Italy. It's basically an endless circle: it's asking me to change the payment method because I moved to Italy but then it doesn't allow me to change the country because I have a premium subscription. Also the support and FAQs are useless as well and they just keep telling me to change the country. Really annoying and stupid.

Thanks for coming to the Community.

 

Please try updating your payment method directly on this page. Make sure to scroll to the bottom and select the correct country in the dropdown before choosing your payment method.

 

If you still see the same error message, here’s what to do:

  1. Cancel your current subscription and wait for it to end.
  2. Once your account reverts to the free plan, follow these steps to update your country setting through the dropdown menu in your account settings.

After that, you should be able to subscribe to Premium Individual again by heading over to this page.

formerly USA, but trying to switch to Germany

My Question or Issue

I´ve been trying to update my country from USA to Germany without success. I can´t select the country on my account page to edit, it´s greyed out. I updated my country on Facebook, which I use to log in to Spotify, but that didn´t change anything either. Can anyone help please? Would hate to lose my premium subscription and all my liked songs due to this glitch.

Keep in mind that if you change your country or region settings, your payment method must match the region you’re currently in. So, if you move to Germany - you must update your payment details following these steps, and then you can change your country or region settings to Germany.

 

If you’re visiting Germany, you won’t need to update your country or region settings - only if you’re moving there permanently.

thanks for the reply.

  1. I tried changing my payment method to a German card, and got the error message that I couldn´t add non-US payment cards.
  2. I removed it, and then tried to change the country, also without success.
  3. I tried changing the country on my FB profile I used for login purposes.

None of these options worked. It´s like it doesn´t want to let me change my payment country without changing my profile country, but I also can´t change my profile country without changing my payment country. And also it refers to FB, but changing things there aren´t triggering any updates or changes either. So according to Spotify, I´m stuck in the US?

I moved to another country and would like to update, the FAQ have been unhelpful, my new payment method is not accepted as is not in line with the country I open the Spotify account (CZ), and the option to update the country is greyed out. Any suggestions?
