It seems that all the Spotify-created playlists I used to listen to were often updated with new songs by real, human editors. It was super convenient for discovering new music.
And now a lot of these playlists are labeled "made for you" and contain mostly AI added tracks I've already liked, sometimes not even close to the playlist’s genre. Even when I listen to things far from what I usually listen to, the auto-play function always ends up playing music I know.
It's a real bummer, I feel like there's no easy way to discover new songs anymore. Could we get the choice to disable the “made for you” feature ?
No matter how much we all agree that the AI-driven "made for you" BS is garbage, I highly doubt Spotify will ever make any changes bc this allows them to not only save money by not paying anyone to curate these playlists, but also spoon-feed you the new albums they have been paid to promote (and nothing else). The thing that initially drew me to Spotify was how easy it was to find new music I liked. The algorithms were fantastic 10 years ago, but they've slowly stripped every single user-centric feature to try to make more money with the least amount of effort on their part. As they continue to strive for endless profit growth, they will continue to strip features until people start leaving and they either go out of business or are forced to make a major pivot. But I wouldn't count on them actually listening to any of us bc they did this on purpose.
Well, due to all that has been discussed here, I am planning to move out from Spotify to YouTube music. However I just realized how hard is to transfer my long time Spotify playlists to another service. If anyone has a good solution about transferring at least Spotify's liked songs into YouTube Music please share.
I use much less Spotify since this stupid Made for You function (sorry because I'm frustrated and angry of this long due issue like all other users).
Very simple, when go into the Radio of the song I like, it's automatically Made for You with most of the songs I already known and listened. So what's the point I want to use the Song Radio to discover similar new songs!?
This Made for You function RUINED all the good part of Spotify! The one who tries to keep it should be fired because it ruined how people discover new good music from Spotify!!! I believe lots of users moved to other platform because of this!
I'm VERY annoyed by this as well. I'm not sure whether the playlists I listen to were curated with or without human interaction before that feature took over. At least for the playlists that are curated automatically by an algorithm anyway, please give us the option to turn this nonsensical "made by you" off
The current DJ and Daily Mix features are doing the same thing - I want to discover new music, but after playing just a few songs, it keeps recommending songs I've heard dozens of times before. Even if I love those songs, it gets really annoying. Because of this, my most played song in my 2024 Wrapped was actually a song I don't even like! I strongly suggest fixing this recommendation algorithm! And add a 'dislike' feature too!!!
so glad i am not the only one being really annoyed by the way spotify handles playlists, recommendations, radios etc. these days. i'm at a point were i keep getting really annoyed by spotify as i am starting to struggle to find stuff i want to listen to as it keeps recommending the same songs over and over again ... everywhere. at least this kind of brings me back to picking specific records on my own that i love listening to but it totally destroys the joy of finding new music, which i always loved about spotify. huge bummer as i feel there is no real change in sight since this has been around for quite some time now. strongly considering chaning services. 😕
100% agree with this. I get Taylor Swift all the time and I really would love to hear some new artists. I get the same songs in these radio stations - doesn't matter which artist I pick, it seems, UGH
Finally reached breaking point with Spotify radio and came on here only to find everybody saying the same thing. When I hear a new song from a completely different genre to what I normally listen to and hit that artist’s radio, I expect to find other bands with a similar sound - not a playlist full of the bands I’ve listened to for years just because they both have a guitar and came out in the same decade.
We need a toggle at the top of all these playlists to enable/disable "made for you".
It's very frustrating to have to click every playlist to see if it's "made for me" to try and find one that is not and be able to finally discover new songs...
This is NOT what he's talking about. He's talking about how when yiou go to ANY radio station (say, "The Killers"), it just fills it with a bunch of songs you listen to anyway, which is incredibly stupid and pointless. Spotify sucks, and no doubt everyone who works there couldn't care less about their customers. The shitification of music continues.
