My Question or Issue

I am listening to music and suddenly the song stops. It always plays one specific song and it says that I have searched for this song. However, I have never searched for this song. Once it even started playing this specific song in the middle of the night. That day I used the sleep timer function.

Sometimes it just starts playing when the app is open but the current song is on pause. This happened on both mobile phone app and desktop app.

I have emptied the cache and also deinstalled the app a couple of times already.

Can anyone help?

Thank you!

Hey @Ajk1012,

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

First off, we'd suggest that you log out everywhere, following the instructions here.

We'd also recommend that you remove access for any third party apps as you might have used your account on external devices (such as speakers, etc.) in the past. You can do that with the following steps:

  1. Log in to your Apps page.
  2. Click REMOVE ACCESS on any app.

On another note, if you've come across music unexpectedly played with your Spotify, it'd be good to make sure no one is accessing your account in an unauthorized way.

If you think someone’s gained access to your account and added this song - head here and see what steps you'd need to take. If that's the case - to prevent this from happening in the future, there are many measures you can take to protect your account, such as resetting your password every few months, and not using passwords you have used on other sites. There is also a great guide here with some more measures on protecting your account.

Hope you'll find this useful. We'll keep an eye on your reply in case there's anything else we can help with!

The song is even added in my "on repeat" playlist because of it repeatedly popping up and when I blocked it it reappeared.

Thank you for your reply! The problem was that in a shared network someone could connect via Bluetooth.. unfortunately this will probably happen again in the future but then I will know what is happening. Thank you for the detailed solution!
