My Question or Issue

I use spotify exclusively through the web player, and I've developed an issue where it absolutely refuses to Start Playlist Radio.  Whenever I try, I instantly get a "This content is not available." warning on a blue banner above the controls.  Notably, I can start both song and artist radios, just not playlist radios from my lists.

The problem is new; when I began using spotify some months ago, the feature usually worked.  In the last several weeks, I have occasionally received the error but multiple back-to-back attempts usually worked.  If all else fails, closing and reopening the browser worked.  However, it's now to the point that trying over and over and the browser close/open does not.

I have tried logging out of Spotify on both PCs used to access the web player and logged back in to no effect.  I've also tried clearing the browser cache and all associated logins and data as well, and still nothing.  Any ideas?  The ability to create custom radio stations to list to during work was basically the only reason I'm using Spotify, and if this feature is no longer working and I'm stuck manually creating large playlists, I may just ditch it entirely and go back to conventional radio stations.

Hey there @mynister,

Thanks for reaching out.

As mentioned above on this thread, the right teams are currently looking into this. We can't commit to a timeframe for when this will be fixed, but we hope to have it sorted out soon.

Hello,

I am having issues with the "this song is not available" error. I am using the Spotify app on Samsung Galaxy 11. Trying to play from my playlist. The playlist worked fine for a couple of days but when I tried to play it when I was in the mountains without signal, it gave me trouble. I assumed since it was a playlist I created previously, I shouldn't have any issues in the mountains with no signal. I am not using VPN, but that shouldn't matter I would assume since I'm just playing my playlist, right?

Here's what happened. When trying to listen to playlist, the app would grab about 4/5 songs from middle of playlist and repeat these 4/5 songs over and over. I tried to play first song on playlist and received the "this song is not available" error, same thing with every other song. So the following day I tried these; uninstall/reinstall app, turn off ad block, log out/in, using wifi, removing entire playlist and starting over again. I feel like I've left some other troubleshooting step out but not enough coffee yet. I am a premium plan member (still in first month) but am frustrated, so much that I am not sure it's worth the effort. I tried posting this previously and after being rerouted to the sign-in for the community and creating my user name, I received an error message here! UGH! Error message read Unexpected error, id? number 37FF74E2 today Aug 30th at 5:41 am. About to throw in the towel. So many other priorities higher on my list.

I read in a post here that a customer had this issue and support fixed with a driver fix but that was over a year ago.

Is this problem still happening for others here?

Please help,

Ann

Hi there @confuzzed,

Thanks for the post.

Sorry to hear that you're having such issues with the app and the Community website.

Note that if there's poor network connection some songs may not load with very good quality or stream at all. When you're hiking it's best to hit the download button on your playlists beforehand and turn on Offline Mode from settings once you're in the area with poor coverage. In this mode the app won't be searching for network and songs/ podcasts should play with no issue as long as they've been downloaded on your phone.

You can go into the Spotify app settings under Audio Quality > switch on Auto adjust quality. This way the app will auto adjust the streamed songs quality based on your network signal. So if there isn't good signal, the songs will stream with lower quality, but will still stream.

Since the topic of this thread is about Radio, can you clarify if you're having trouble with the Radio function specifically or any playlist in general, so I can look further into this.

About the error you've got when trying to log in the Community - we've passed this feedback to the relevant teams who'll look into it.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Hello Alex,

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to play music off of a playlist that I created at home where signal is strong. I didn't realize I was seeking help on a radio function thread. I haven't even tried radio. Just trying to play a playlist that was created prior to heading into the hills. I didn't try the download button while on library screen previously. I did try the download button today while in strong signal area. Nothing happened. Circle just spins, like my head is beginning to spin trying to get this to work. I only have two songs (11 minutes) on the playlist I'm trying to play. Whats a QOTSA fan to do??? Very frustrating. Hope you can fix my issue. Again, when I try to play the song/s, the response is " this song not available". Please help.

Thanks,

Ann

Thanks for getting back to us @confuzzed!

It might be a good idea to try some troubleshooting steps here.

You can start off by trying a clean reinstall of the app to make sure you have the latest version and that any outdated files that might be causing issues are removed.
Give your device a quick restart as well before you open the newly installed app. Log in and try to download the playlist again after that.

If the above mentioned doesn't help, please provide screenshots of what you see when you hit download button on your playlist as this will be very helpful to our investigation.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply!
