I’m writing as a loyal Premium user and someone who genuinely loves your platform. Spotify is a big part of my daily life, and Wrapped has always been one of the highlights of the year for me. It’s fun, creative, and such a great way to see my music stats and share them with friends. But I have to be honest—this year’s Wrapped was disappointing.
The Wrapped has always felt fresh and innovative. Features like showing the country where my top music came from, monthly top artist stats (with the really cool graphics and visuals), and the breakdown of my top genres were some of the things I loved most in 2023. This year, those features were missing, and without them, Wrapped felt plain and honestly kind of boring. It wouldn't have been an issue if there were other interesting features though. Even something as basic as showing my top genre wasn’t included—how does that happen?
I know you introduced the AI Wrapped podcast this year, but I didn’t find it useful. It just repeated the same info I could already see in the Wrapped slideshow, so it didn’t add anything new or exciting. Sure, it might be helpful for accessibility, but for most users, it felt unnecessary. I would’ve loved to see a new feature that was more creative or interactive instead.
I also need to mention the accuracy of the data. My top songs didn’t seem to align with what I actually listened to throughout the year. I even compared my Wrapped data to other tools like Stats.fm, and there were big discrepancies. That made me lose a bit of trust in the stats, which was disappointing because one of the best parts of Wrapped is seeing how well it reflects my listening habits.
Another issue I had was the delay. Obviously, I love the Wrapped feature so much it didn't matter how long it took, but the extra five days of waiting (everyone had expected Nov. 30th or Dec1st) built up a lot of anticipation—and then the final product didn’t meet the expectations that had been set. Wrapped is one of Spotify’s biggest moments each year, and I think it deserved more effort and polish to live up to all the hype.
I know Wrapped is a huge project, and I appreciate the work that goes into it. But it’s such a big deal for so many Spotify users—it’s not just about personal stats; it’s a big moment that gets everyone talking. I hope next year brings back the features we loved or introduces something equally creative and fun. Wrapped should feel like a celebration of our year in music, you know?
