Premium won't work on ipad or iphone - have gone through troubleshooting steps - still nothing...

I have a premium service that works ok on PC and laptop but not on my iphone or ipad.

It's a new account and I log in via Spotify log in (not Facebook)
I've cleared history and cookies on iphone

reinstalled the app (about 5 times on iphone, once on ipad) and always get the same message:

'Spotify Premium trial ended. To continue streaming music you'll need Spotify Premium'

I didn't even get the trial period...

How can I fix this?
