Since the last iOS update my Spotify has been playing up. Every single 1-2 songs the music just stops playing. I still have a full 4G (50mb/s) connection, and this even happens with tracks I have saved locally (i.e. there's no need to use the connection to stream).
Anyone else having this problem or a fix?!........ Nothing but problems with the iOS app and days away from just cancelling my subscription!
1. Iphone 4s
2. iOS 7.1.2
3. 1.4.1.4
4.Stops playing songs randomely when songs are downloaded, streaming. offline, online, on bluetooth, off bluetooth. using shuffle play, not using shuffle play.
Also it does not crash it just stops playing. Usually the time is 0:00 of the next song. I can swipe to the next song and it will start playing again. I can even swipe back then forward and play the song that it originally would not play.
I cancelled my premium subscription as well. I sent an email for support. If the issue gets fixed they can contact me. They probably won't though since customers have to go online to trouble shoot there problems.
Happening to me too since last update.
1. Apple iPhone 4s
2. iOS 7.1.2
3. Spotify app version 1.4.1.4
4. Crashes when reusing after a break, Crashes when resuing after closing the app, restarts but then looses the place where it was previously Occassionaly freezes during use - can only be restarted by cosing the app and starting again.
I should add that I deleted the app, then reinstalled it - it still happens.
Cancel your membership. Companies don't care about you or your comments. They only want to suck you dry of every penny you got left. No customers, no company. I'm sure they think you're all a bunch of idiots, you pay Spotify only to be their beta tester when it should be the other way around.
I have a specific problem, described by some other users, where a song sits at 0:00 and won't proceed with a playlist on my iPhone 5 (latest update, whatever that is for this date). I'm a premium subscriber, and playing offline music. Feels like it occurs every half dozen songs or thereabouts. I can skip back to the last song then forward to the present song and it plays every time. But it's a hassle because I can't just put on a playlist while I'm working or exercising, because I have to go to the phone and do the skip-back-then-skip-forward process to get it to work. I don't know the exact start point for this problem, but feels like I've been having it for about 3 weeks??
The recent 1.5.0.2728 update does not fix the stopping issue. How about fixing core bugs like playback before adding trivial features like "equalizer"?
I am on ipod touch 4th gen. I have 6506 tracks in a playlist in offline mode. Anything I do on ipod spotify, takes ages to respond. I pressed 'shuffle music' and it played first song. I pressed 'forward' and it has now been 50 seconds and counting and next track has not come on. If I continue pressing teh forward or next track Spotify crashes and closes down. Now after 1 minute 8 seconds spotify crashed and closed down. The only way that spotify will remain open is to press shuffle play and leave it altogether, once you try to do anything it will crash. I also tried another playlist with 45 tracks in it in online mode and the same thing happens, I press next track and it still plays the same track, no movement to next track at all, if I keep pressing next track it will crash on me
Issue has gotten worse. Now that I unsubscribed, using the free version, the player automatically skips a song. Lets say I'm playing track 01, with shuffle and repeat on, track 01 finishes playing and randomly loads, lets say, track 55, it will load the first second of track 55, then randomly load the next track.
This app is broken and I don't think they have any idea on how to fix it.
I am sure they will find a way. The same thing happened with 3 updates ago, and then the next update fixed it. I hope the same thing happens now and this will be fixed as it is very frustrating
This happens to me all the time. It will be playing my playlist fine and then gets to a song and just stops (though the icon shows as playing). It is kind of like it is frozen. I can move the track progress button a few seconds and it starts playing fine. I can also skip forward and then skip back by swiping or presssing the skip buttons and it will start playing the track that was frozen. Again, this is random. App does not crash at all as I can skip to the next song and it starts back up again. This happens on local tracks as well as streamed tracks. I turned off all the playback options as I thought there may be problem with it (i.e. gapless, crossfade) but that didn't do the trick. This is starting to become frustrating as it has been happening the past few revisions. I finally became frustrated enough to post the issue.
iOS Version 7.1.2 (11D257)

Same issue here. I've just returned from holiday where this problem drove me crazy. I had no issues at all up until I made more of my playlists offline when I knew I wouldn't have a WIFI signal while on vacation.

So, last night I deleted the app and re-installed. Rather than syncing all playlists I started with just a few (probably around 200 songs) and this seemed to resolve the problem. I'm going to start adding playlists back in everyday to see when this starts happening again.
I also have the problem that Spotify stops playing randomly. It stops at a new song. I have to go forward or backward a song to start playing again. I have this problem on a iPhone 5S, iPad3, iPad mini Retina and iPhone 4. All with the latest iOS and Spotify app. Tried to change the streaming quality, did a reset etc. Nothing helped. Very annoying ideed.
Wow. Just WOW!
On the one hand I'm glad this isn't just happening to me. On the other, not a single positive message from the Spotify engineers.
My issue began around a week ago. I thought it might have something to do with another device being logged on. It's not that. I've since logged off all device. I even changed the password just on the remote chance that this might be something to do with the recent Shellshock exploit. Apart from that, I've also delete the app and only synched a few songs.
The issue persists.
iPhone 5
iOS version 7.1.2
Spotify version 1.8.0.2444
My phone is NOT Jailbroken.
I haven't investigated further than my offline songs but it can randomly stop and restart.
To give you more information, while listening to music, I heard the three pips which indicate that some soft key has been pressed. This is even though I'm not touching the screen. When I look at the app from the lock screen, I can see that the song continues to play even though I can't hear it.
The app is unusable in its current state.
