My Question or Issue

I play one song and then within the first second of the next, the audio is cut and stops playing. the image for the song and the play/pause button become grayed out. I can barely navigate the system and if I try and go into another playlist it either doesn't or loads indefinitely. This forces me to close and restart the app, however when I try and play music again it only plays one song before the problems arise again.

I have already updated both my phone and the app, logging out, deleting the app, reinstalling the app, logging back in, turning off the data saver, changing streaming quality, restarting the phone and app several times, and clearing the cache.

Hey @AmyNicoleScott,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Can you please let us know the model, OS version and Spotify version of the device this is happening on along with the troubleshooting steps you've tried?

Keep us posted.

Same here cache clear restart phone and app does not work. Just started happening out of no where

Hey @eyelumination,

Thanks for the report.

We'd need the brand/model and operating system of your phone together with the Spotify version installed on it so we can move this thread forward. Could you provide a short screen recording of the experience as well? Let's try a clean reinstall of the app and see if this brings any change. Here is how to do one.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

Hello!

Ive been having this issue for about a week now, hoping it would go away, but I cant take it anymore.

Anytime I play any playlist or artist, after one song, or if I skip a song, it won’t go to the next song, the whole player disappears.  Then I have to close the app (or desktop app; this happens both on my iPhone and mac) and reshuffle the playlist.  This happens every single song.

I am on the free plan right now, but my friend on premium is also having the same issue, but with her, she just has to click a new song every time and it will work .

Please help!!!
Thank you.

I can also verify this issue as a Premium subscriber.

For me, the issue occurs on both Windows 11 and Android 13 clients. Reinstalling Spotify on both devices in question did not resolve the issue, which persists and typically occurs every morning when I re-open Spotify on these devices and wish to continue playing the currently selected playlist. When the issue happens, Spotify ends up in a "blank" state like shown in the screenshot above by a previous poster, on both Android and Windows platforms. So far the only "workaround" to get Spotify playing again has been to start playing a different playlist altogether, stopping it and then switching to play the previous playlist again.

Same here on pc premium, started like a month ago, i click play upon opening spotify and when it should go to the next song in the playlist it stops and the play button is greyed out, when i click the play button in the playlist it plays music again without issues.

Seemed fixed for a few days but started doing it again.

Tried the MS store version and the version you download here, happens with both, uninstalled, cleared cache, all of that didnt fix the problem.

Hey there folks,

Thank you for your replies and reports.

We'd suggest to go ahead and check this thread because right now we have an Ongoing issue with what you seem to be experiencing with your desktop app. Feel free to leave your details here like your device's model and OS version, along with the Spotify version you're currently running. If you don't know how to check it - go to this FAQ.

If that's not exactly what you seem to be having issues with, we'd like you to send as much detail as possible. Let us know the following:

  • Does this happens only at the start-up or anytime?
  • What have you listened to - a playlist, an artist, search results, Autoplay?
  • Are you streaming directly from the device or you are connected to an external speakers?

This way we can take a closer look and advise you better.

We'll be keeping an eye out for your updates  🙂

I am on premium for a year and it’s been days that my spotify stops playing music after one song. I’ve reinstalled the app, restarted my phone but nothing happened. It should be on continuous play. Can you tell me why?

Follow up to this. Spotify plays recommended songs to me if I use the web browser to play songs. The app is not working properly.

Hi there @Joyceeosh,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community.

Could you let us know if the same happens on any other devices that have the app installed?

Additionally, let us know if this happens while using a different Internet connection, like another WiFi network or mobile data as well.

We'd also like to confirm if this is only happening with recommended songs or if you play, for example, one song from a playlist or album, the playback stops after that one song.

Lastly, did you follow these specific steps when reinstalling the app on your phone? Those are for a clean reinstall, which is more thorough than a regular one.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Hi, I'm still having this problem and I don't see any confirmed solution here - is there one now a year later?
