Downgrade immediately before billing date but no refund

Solved!

Downgrade immediately before billing date but no refund

I'm in Australia, I change my Individual plan to Student plan before next billing date (19/10/2024), it was immediately downgraded to the student plan. I pay for Individual plan and it didn't expire, so why was it downgraded immediately instead of the next billing date?

Hey @mon3tr,

Thanks for getting back.

The only benefit you’re currently missing out on is audiobook listening time, which is exclusive to certain Premium plans. For a full overview of the plan benefits, you can check the Premium page here: https://www.spotify.com/premium/.

Just to clarify, the switch to Premium Student always happens immediately, but if you didn’t want that, it would’ve been best to wait until your billing date to make the switch.

Since your billing date is the 19th, from then on, you’ll pay the discounted student price, which is half of what you’ve been paying so far. So you won’t be paying more for fewer benefits—in fact, you’ll get a discount going forward!

Hope this clears things up 🙂

Hey @mon3tr,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

When you switch from a Premium Individual subscription to another Premium plan, the change happens immediately—this is expected behavior.

However, your billing date will stay the same, so you don’t need to worry about any changes there.

Let me know if you have any other questions 🙂

Hi @Maxim, thank you for your explanation. So I pay for Individual plan but only have the benefits of the student plan? Even though this will only last until the next billing date it still upsets me, why should I pay more for the benefits that doesn't exist? It doesn't make sense
