I use Spotify for my work as a music curator. I've always worked with the "Make my new lists public" option off and check to make sure they are not listed as public. I have revisited some lists made a month or so ago and they are all public now. Looking at more and they are now public as well!
Why has this happened? is there a way to make bulk lists private? I don't want to spend days of my life changing them one by one, there are over 1400 lists and I cant invoice for that time so it will take away from may wages.
Please help. This is bad.
Now mine are all public!!! WTH?????????????
There isn't an option to make a playlist private on mine. I would like to make a couple of them private and there isn't an option.
Please tell me whether artists get the information about their listeners playlists that include their tracks if it is a playlist labeled "public" but "not added" to profile
The same has happened to me.
All of my playlists are now public? This somehow feels like a violation of privacy?
Dear Spotify,
I am wondering why my profile says I have 1 public playlist, but all of my playlists say 'Public playlist'? This needs to be fixed it is obviously ridiculous - users don't know what you mean by public playlist because you are using the same term for playlists that are literally published to a user profile and a playlist that isn't. I am looking at my profile right now and I have 1 public playlist, but also a whole bunch of other 'public playlists' that are both public and not public. What is a 'public playlist' according to you? It would be handy to know.
I have a radical suggestion, why don't you make all playlists say that they are private or public, and public ones can appear on the profile and private ones can not appear on the profile. For sharing, if a user shares a link to a private playlist, they can become 'shared playlists', and clearly say so. If users no longer wishes for the shared links to work, they can change the shared playlist to a 'private playlist', which will break the links. 3 categories. Is it so hard?
Making people think that their playlists are all publicly accessible, whether you have done it or not, is actually really terrible thing for you to do.
Yours in hope, neilius1
Well, two years almost later, I discovered this thread because I accidentally found the same issue in my profile. All my private playlists are displayed as public - I did not give any permission for this. What has happened? Is my privacy breached? I read the thread above, but I could not understand what Spotify did. My question is, are my playlists now available for any user to see? If not, this will be good news, but what does public mean then? If there is a breach of privacy, it is a huge issue that has not been resolved for many years. Spotify, could you please clarify?
Users spend a lot of time creating playlist. Why is Spotify making them PUBLIC. It's a privacy issue too since, I don't want my co-workers to know what I listen to.
This has to change...
