Cannot Change Country because "email already taken"

I created an email and a spotify while on vacation in Europe. The account added Austria as the country I was in. I would like to buy premium but I am now back in the USA and tried entering my credit card and was told I need to change the country to the USA and not austria. I logged into my account on spotify.com and clicked "edit my account." When I changed the country to my current country (the US), and clicked done. An error in red popped up that said "email already taken." This doesnt make sense to me and I am extremly angry that becoming a premium member is harder to do than getting a college degree. I am already logged into the account and am editing my country to the USA. If I am going to pay $10 a month for the service I would like a working website. Please help me find a solution or tell me not to spend my money. Thanks. Account name is Lawman1776
