Data turned off but Spotify still working

My Question or Issue

my data is turned off in settings for Spotify however Spotify continues to use data even though it is turned off. I’ve seen and read the past community post where people were having the same issue and even though it says it was “solved” there is no solution within that community post. I have Spotify premium and my playlists are downloaded so they can be played offline however data is still being used even though it is turned off.

This could happen in case you've downloaded your songs and start playback with an active internet connection. The app tries to play the most up-to-date versions of the songs on our servers.

We'd suggest you turn on the offline mode in order not to use the cellular data. You can also head here to find more information about the offline mode.
