Does Spotify work in Mexico? I have the free version. Will that work? Or will it work if I upgrade to Premium?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂
Spotify has not yet launched in Mexico, so if you live there you won't be able to use the service.
If you are just travelling or visiting, you can access your account for 14 days anywhere in the world outside of your registered country before you loose access. If you need more time than that, unlimited and premium both give unlimited travel time providing you continue to pay for your subscription from your registered country.

Hi Peter,
Thank you for the timely response. Do I need to upgrade or will my free version work on my iphone or laptop ok?
You can use the free version only on your desktop, if you want access on your iPhone you need a premium subscription.
To be honest (and I'm not trying to sell you anything!), I would recommend you go premium, that way you can download your playlists for offline usage onto your iPhone and your laptop meaning you can still listen to your playlists if you can't find an internet connection (as long as you connect once ever 30 days you will be sweet!).

So, have I got it right if I say that with a Premium account you can listen unimited in Mexico, and not only the 14 days?
"Offline mode" means you can listen to your existing playlists, as the music is already stored on your device. But you cannot listen to new music if you try to search for it online or want to start a radio station which chooses music randomly. And you have to connect to Spotify at least once within 30 days to verify your Premium account if you want to stay in Offline mode. I don't know if that would work from Mexico, but Peter says it does if I understood him correctly. 🙂

Yes 🙂
A premium subscription gives you unlimited access to your account anywhere in world, providing you continue to pay for your account from your home country where Spotify has launched so you can stream anywhere in the world providing you have an active premium subscription.
As hans-jürgen said above, you can use offline mode too so you can listen when you don't have an internet connection, but you need to connect at least once every 30 days to verify your subscription is still active.

I am heading to Cancun and I have a Premium subscription to spotify ( which is fantastic btw) We are going april 5th-12th. I have read what you have said about offline mode...If all my tracks are synced will I be able to access my playlist offline from my phone without the internet in Cancun, I dont want a zillion dollars worth of charges from my phone provider. But I have made a fantastic playlist and would love to be able to listen to it on the beach all week. I have never used to offline mode and am not exactly sure how to use it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Just follow the steps in this FAQ. Have a great holiday 🙂
