Does student discount apply to discounted premium?

I've received an email offering me a subscription extension for £9.99pm, but I've also just found out I can get 50% student discount. Can I extend and then apply the student discount to get 50% off the £9.99?

Hi,

The discount will only work with Paypal or card payments.  If you go to www.spotify.com/uk/student on/after the 22nd, you will be able to resubscribe for £4.99/pm.  

If the extention offer is via the iTunes payment, the student discount will not work.

That is when your iTunes payment ends and returns your account to the Free service.
