Downloaded Music Direct on Android, how do I get it to my Spotify?

Hello,

I have lots of music downloaded directly to my phone.... how do I get it to Spotify?

Hey, welcome to the Community.

Do you mean you have music stored on your device that you want to play in Spotify? The app should pick it up automatically and you'll be able to play it.

Or did you mean accessing it on a separate device/computer?

Hi Thanks!

I'm still not sure what I am doing with this app! I was advised to download Google Music Manager, then Verizon did an update to my Razr and POW.... entire playlist and music, GONE! I have been so frustrated about this issue.

I downloaded Spotify to my PC and Adroid, then moved my Itunes to Spotify. I have several songs on my SD Card and can't figure out how to get them to Spotify as it is not picking them up. I don't have the premium account, just the regular app that I downloaded in the Market.  If I download a song outside of Spotify directly on my phone, where do I find it on my phone as well. I swear, I am usually not this simple minded!!

HA!  Nevermind, I just found it under Local Music and added it to my playlist.

Next question, do I need to be a premium member?

Ok, hastily deleted my unnecessary fix for finding the Local Files then!

You'll need a Premium subscription to stream songs from Spotify and save them for Offline Play. But you'll be able to play your Local Files on your mobile with a free account.

Ok, so I download song direct to my phone quite a bit. Will they automatically show up on my PC? Stupid question, but what is Offline?  Jeez, I feel a little silly! I blame it on the the google mess.

No worries, I'm happy to explain. And there's lots of information available on our website - http://www.spotify.com/about/features/mobile-music/ - and FAQs.

The local files you have on your phone won't transfer over to the computer. If you have a Premium account and put them into playlists we'll try to find a match in the catalogue and make them available in both places, but this doesn't work every time.

Offline Mode is a Premium feature which allows you to listen to your playlists even without an internet connection. So it's useful if you're on the tube/subway or in an airplane, etc.

Thank you so much for your help! Last question, If I edit my Spotify Playlist on my PC (Which is easier than doing it on my phone) will it automatically update my Playlist on my PC? I don't have my phone with me at the moment or I would be already trying it.... KIDS, they take everything! 🙂

Ok, I purchased the premium to play offline.  I can't play any of the songs on my phone, it just comes up with a message to sync track from your computer. I have my phone back, it is plugged into the computer, I have followed the directions and launched Spotify on my computer, marked the playlist for offline sync... and still nothing.

You'll just need to open Spotify on both your computer and device, then make sure they're connected to the same wifi (not plugged in by a cable). It should then show up under devices and you'll be able to select that to choose what gets synced.

Does this help?
