Hey @Aubry,
Thanks for reaching out.
Just to double-check, have you already made sure that the correct language is set? Check out this support article for info on how to do this.
Let me know how it goes ๐
Hi @maxim, thanks for your message. My system is set on French (Belgium).
Hey @Aubry,
Thanks for letting me know.
The language of the emails that Spotify sends is based on your accountโs country, and they understand that some countries have multiple languages.
However, itโs not possible manually change the language of emails at the moment, but I can get your feedback passed onto the right team ๐
I hope this clears things up!
I also live overseas. I donโt understand Arabic either. For me, all emails are sent in Arabic, and they always suggest Arabic artists and songs . Please help!
Thanks a lot for your help and the exchange.
did you find a solution to this problem ?
EDIT: Note that this comes from another report which was merged into this suggestion
Currently, I receive all the communications in another language (I don't know why). It's illegal and disrespectful.
I've asked repeatedly to get emails in a language of my choosing (either English or French). The support refuses to understand the problem and stubbornly tells me that I can set the language on my device.
Firstly, my device (a PC workstation) has the language set to English, yet it's ignored.
Secondly, it's normal that it's ignored since their email server can't have access to my local settings.
I tried to explain many times that the only way for this to work is to add a language row to the user's record in the server database. But it seems to fall into deaf's ears and Spotify keeps sending emails in a foreign language (after assuring me that, this time, they fixed it).
Hey @Maxim,
Using the country as a base to force the language onto the user is a very bad practice, even in countries with only one language. You have no idea who the user really is, including their nationality.
It's high time developers stop second-guessing the user's preferences.
It's NOT possible to manually change the language at the moment. I have about 10 people from the support who told me in the past, "I have set your language to XXX (English or French)", and it has never changed anything. Some of them give the same link as you did, but it's for the language of the app, not for communications. Emails are sent from a server which has no access to those preferences, since they're stored locally, and possibly on several different devices which may have different settings.
As mentioned in my other comment, they must simply add a row in their database for the user's language.
Unfortunately, no way to report a bug to them. I suspect these "ideas" here are only for people to vent. If they were taken into account, a number of issues would already have been fixed (as when they decided to remove the "like" icons from the main page - probably the silliest decision so far).
